Here's what happened. My Rock & Roll band broke up shortly after I arrived in LA. This twist of fate eventually delivered me to a post production company where I answered phones, stocked the fridge, and became fascinated with editing. Much like playing the drums, the editor sets down the rhythm, drives the story, and ultimately gets little credit. Perfect!
Really good people saw potential, opportunity smiled, and within a few years I was honing my craft on numerous music videos and commercials for many of the industries A-list directors and recording artists (Jeff Beck, Michael Jackson, Jay-Z).
The production chapter of my career launched when “Shooting Star”, an award winning documentary about a senior womens basketball league, premiered at SUNDANCE, then went on to screen at many festivals and special events throughout the world. This opened the door for me to direct (often direct/edit} hundreds of commercial projects. Several have won awards -- some have been featured in Adweek, Variety, and Shoot -- some have been unceremoniously backed-up to a drive and put on a shelf :-)
I thrive while navigating creative and production challenges, often with complete strangers -- I love to teach -- I never stop learning -- I believe Los Angeles is a very silly place -- I think every office should have at least one big dog in it.
Oh, and I have directed over 200 commercial and web content projects for clients including Yamaha, Hyundai, LG, Boeing, Days Inn, Compusa, Lincoln, Honda, DirecTV, Taco Bell, Cottonelle, NHL, NBA, and Lowes.
